My Absence

Hey everyone, I wanted to return to the blog briefly just to explain my absence. First thing's first, 2021 was a really fun season. It was my first season where I truly embraced the new-age analytics of baseball, and I'm really happy I did. It's opened up a whole new lens to view the game I've always loved from. In terms of the on-field product itself, there were plenty of great games, surprises, and twists that made this season one to remember. With the back and forth between the Giants and Dodgers all year, the Atlanta Braves and their run at a title without Ronald Acuna, and the AL Wild Card race coming down to the wire, I truly feel lucky to have this season be the first one I spent on the blog. And how could I forget full capacity stadiums and a full 162 game season, something I've learned to never take for granted after the hardship brought to everyone by Covid-19. All that being said, I wanted to spend the offseason away from the blog for the time being. Being a high-school senior means coursework is ramping up, and college applications are being sent out. With all that going on, my ability to come up for air dwindled, and with that so did my ability to bring bimonthly posts to all of you. I briefly considered trying to juggle everything, but as a wise person once said, you should never half-ass two things. Full-ass one thing. So while my passion for baseball is still alive and well, it doesn't rank above schoolwork on my list of priorities. And if I tried to do both, each would suffer--I needed to choose one to focus on, so I could put my best work forward. I truly hope I find myself in a situation one day where I can make baseball and sabermetrics my top priority, even in the form of a career, but that day exists somewhere in the future. For now, I hope to return sometime in January, as I'll be done with my college applications at that point. With free agency, awards, and the expiring Collective Bargaining Agreement, I'm sure I'll have quite a bit to talk about by then. Until then, I'll be taking a break from my posts. Thank you, readers, for understanding.
